Rio Tinto has an opening for a Human Resource Planning Analyst located in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA or Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Major products are aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold, industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt, talc) and iron ore. The Human Resource Planning analyst will:
Work with senior members of the team (Workforce Planning, HR Data Analytical Lead) in developing HR planning, metric identification and reporting of achievement to plan phases of Human Capital Planning.
Liaise with HR business leads or designees in development and communication of Human Capital Plans.
Work with HR business groups to develop metrics that impact their plans and measure progress to plan ongoing throughout the year.
Manage HR databases with HR Data Analytical Lead to ensure up–to-date data is captured from the business HR groups.
Support Human Resource Planning, Human Capital Planning and Workforce Planning as a member of the Global Practice Leadership team.
Additional responsibilities include:
Team with the workforce planning lead to work with the product group and business unit HR leads to develop, manage, communicate, interpret and explain the workforce planning process that will be instituted.
Team with members of the HR Planning and Systems group to roll out the new Human Capital Planning System across all business.
Collect data from product groups and business units that measure their progress to plan.
Participate on a team that evaluates the SAP HR Module and makes recommendations to support best uses of HR IT systems and tools.
Ensure accuracy of data collected.
Analyze HR data collected (i.e., staffing, remuneration, population) to look for trends that will assist the business in better understanding their workforce.
Look for cross-business or cross-geography trends to understand workforce issues.
Using a consultative approach, this candidate will listen, understand and communicate to HR businesses and product groups as necessary.
Must resolve data inconsistencies with business and product groups in a win/win manner.
Work “common ground” on Human Capital metrics.
Prioritizing multiple requests to balance expectations. Capital metrics.
Propose best alternatives for HR IT systems usage while working with multiple constituencies.
Work with the team to extend the breadth and scope of workforce planning to other areas of business planning (i.e., large capital projects, investment evaluation).
Must be able to work remotely and service clients in multiple time zones/countries.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree, in a discipline related to HR.
3 years in increasingly responsible HR positions.
Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Strong analytic and mathematical acumen is essential.
Knowledge of databases (i.e., Access); information management skills.
Knowledge of SAP helpful.
Excellent follow-up and attention to details a must.
Intuitive project management skills.
Proven client engagement skills.
Strong Excel skills.
Good conceptual thinking.
Desire to achieve visible results, take initiative, and solve problems.
